STALLION SYNOPSIS FOR:

STORM ACCOUNT

BY ALAN PORTER

Storm Account is by Storm Cat, a Champion Sire who has at least 20 sons who have sired grade one winners. He is out of a stakes winning daughter of Private Account, from a European classic family that features five stakes sires in the first three dams, among them French Derby winner Sanglamore. He is bred on the same Storm Cat/Private Account cross as the brilliant Discreet Cat, grade one sire Sir Cat, and graded stakes sire Vision and Verse.

The Storm Cat/ Mr. Prospector cross has produced more than 150 stakes winners. For Storm Account whose broodmare sire, Private Account, is out of a mare inbred to fabulous La Troienne family, once through Buckpasser one would particularly recommend mares descending from stallions bred on the Mr. Prospector/Buckpasser cross, including Woodman (whose dam is a sister to the dam of Private Account), Seeking the Gold (sire of Petionville , Mutakddim and Cape Town ), Miswaki (who is sire of Black Tie Affair and grandsire of Formal Gold), and Mining . Woodmans three-parts-brothers Not For Love and Rhythm would also work well. Sir Cat and Vision and Verse have both work well over Mr. Prospector through Fappiano (who can be brought in through Unbridled/ Unbridleds Song, Pentelicus, Quiet American , and Cryptoclearance ). Other sources of Mr. Prospector that might do well here include Carson City, Conquistador Cielo (and his son Marquetry ), Crafty Prospector, Forty Niner, Gone West, Allens Prospect and Silver Ghost . Mr. Prospector is a Raise a Native son, and Storm Cat has done very well with Raise a Native via Alydar who can be brought in through Alysheba , Criminal Type, Turkoman, Easy Goer (who should be particularly good), Strike the Gold (a good match here), Saratoga Six, Benchmark, Jeblar and Dare and Go. Storm Cat has also crossed well with mares from the Exclusive Native line, particularly through Affirmed .

Storm Cat and his sons have enjoyed success with some branches of the Turn-to/Hail to Reason line. From the Roberto branch of this line Sir Cat and Vision and Verse have sired stakes winners out of mares by Kris S . and his son, Prized . Other branches of Roberto that should be good here are Dynaformer, Silver Hawk , and Red Ransom . The Halo branch of Hail to Reason should be particularly good through Devils Bag and Saint Ballado . Halo might also be tried through Southern Halo (sire of More Than Ready , who is out of a mare by Woodman). Hail to Reasons line should be good through Stop the Music, particularly through Cure the Blues and has also worked with Temperence Hill . Storm Account might also cross well with Turn-to through Coxs Ridge .

There are at least 30 stakes winners on the Storm Cat/Seattle Slew cross, and Seattle Slew should be particularly interesting here, as he is out of a mare who is inbred to La Troienne. Storm Cat line stallions have sired stakes winners out of mares descending from Seattle Slew through A.P. Indy (who also brings in Buckpasser), Capote (and his son, Matty G ), Fast Play (out of a Buckpasser mare), General Meeting , Gold Legend , Metfield , Seattle Song , Secret Slew, Slewpy , Synastry (who brings in Buckpasser), Septieme Ciel and Taj Alriyadh . From another branch of the Boldnesian like, Bold Ruckus , and particularly his son, Beau Genius , are worth considering.

The Storm Cat/Blushing Groom cross has produced more than 30 stakes winners, including nine group or grade one winners. Blushing Groom could be brought in through Rahy (who should be particularly good here), Mt. Livemore (sire of Housebuster , Orientate and Peaks and Valleys ), Runaway Groom (sire of Cherokee Run ), Crystal Glitters , and Blushing John . Storm Cat has crossed very well with mares descending from Relaunch (who brings in La Troienne) who might be introduced through Bertrando , and his son, Skywalker (sire of Officer ), Cees Tizzy (sire of Tiznow ), Waquoit and Honour and Glory . Storm Cat has also worked over Relaunchs sire, In Reality via Valid Appeal . It is also worth bringing in stallions from the Buckpasser male-line, and these include LEnjoleur, Buckaroo (sire of Spend A Buck , Montbrook and Lite the Fuse ), and Silver Buck (sire of Silver Charm ).
